Beer - January 2024

January and to the same extent February are my least favourite months of the year. The cold, the storms, the post Christmas lack of money and the horrible dry January. It’s the time of the year that you just want to get. However, there was the Wetherspoons January sale and the Christmas drinkers are long gone.

What I have found though, is how much I need quality WiFi when I go out to drink. I know cellular and tethering but most Pubs these days have at least FTTC standard connects. However, so far this month, the WiFi has been down twice in the John Wallace Linton, once in the Malcolm and the Pen and Wig (Newport) well, it’s a bit flaky away. Add to that the Tiny Rebel Bar Newport is no rate limited via a captive portal. January has been a bad month for connectivity.

Only Weird Dads stands strong with password protected half FTTC speeds. I must pay my first 2024 visit there. If only they opened earlier.

And then for Burns’ Night Spoons had Nessie’s Monster Mash from the Cairngorm brewery. Tidy, but nothing to get excited about.
